Terms of Use

Welcome to KhojKhobor. These terms explain how our website works and what you and the shops on it can expect. By using KhojKhobor or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

1. What KhojKhobor is

KhojKhobor is an online marketplace that lists products from independent local shops (“sellers”) in and around Raiganj, West Bengal.KhojKhobor is not the seller of the products listed. When you place an order, the contract of sale is between you and the shop you buy from.

KhojKhobor provides the website, order tracking, notifications, reviews and support. We act as an intermediary and do not own, stock, pack or ship the products.

2. Your account

• You must be 18 or older to make an account. You sign up with your own mobile number, which we check with a code on WhatsApp; an email address is optional. Please give accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Your account is for you alone, and you sign in to it with your own Google account: don't share either. You're responsible for everything done through it. If you think someone else got in, use “Sign out everywhere else” in Login & security at once, secure your Google account, and tell us. The mobile number you show must be your own.
• We record each sign-in and each thing you put up (a post, comment, video, listing or review) with the time, your IP address, your browser and a device cookie. We keep these records for one year. They let us warn you when your account is used on a new device, show what was done from it, and answer lawful requests from the authorities.
• We may suspend accounts used for fraud, abuse, fake orders or fake reviews.

3. Products, prices and orders

• Shops set their own prices, stock, delivery fees, delivery times and return windows. These are shown on the product page and at checkout.
• Product descriptions and photos are provided by the shop. Shops are responsible for making them accurate.
• For a product sold in a sealed pack, the product page shows what its label says: the maker, packer or importer, the country of origin, the net quantity, the best-before date where there is one, and who to contact with a complaint. Prices include all taxes.
• “Featured” shops are picked by our team and are shown first in some lists. Shops can't pay for this, and there are no paid ads on KhojKhobor. If that ever changes, paid placements will be clearly marked.
• An order is confirmed when the shop accepts it, and for UPI orders, when the shop has verified your payment.
• A shop may cancel an order, for example if an item is out of stock or mispriced. If you already paid, the shop must refund you in full.

4. Payments

KhojKhobor does not collect, hold or transfer your money. We are not a bank, payment gateway, wallet or escrow service.

• UPI: you pay the shop directly to the shop's own UPI ID using your UPI app. After paying, you submit the UPI transaction reference (UTR) so the shop can match and verify your payment.
• Cash on Delivery: where offered, you pay the shop or its delivery person when the order arrives.
• Unpaid UPI orders may be cancelled automatically after the payment window shown at checkout.
• Disputes about a payment, such as a debit that didn't reach the shop, are handled between you, the shop and your bank or UPI app. We will help where we can.
• Submitting a false or someone else's UTR is not allowed and may lead to account suspension.

5. Delivery

Shops deliver orders themselves or through a local partner, to serviceable pincodes in the Raiganj area. Delivery dates are estimates given by the shop. Please make sure someone is available at the address you provide.

6. Cancellations, returns and refunds

You can cancel an order before it is shipped. Returns are accepted within each product's return window. Since payments go directly to the shop, refunds are made by the shop directly to you. See our Returns & Refunds Policy for details.

7. Posts, reviews and other content

• You're responsible for what you put up: posts, photos, videos, comments, listings, messages, reviews and questions.
• KhojKhobor is for local life and business: buying, selling, services, recommendations and local notices. Posts about politics, religion or entertainment, and memes, aren't allowed and may be removed.
• Nudity or sexual content, and pretending to be someone else, are removed as soon as we know about them, and the account may be closed. One report from an established member hides such a post until our team checks it. Reporting things that don't break the rules, again and again, can stop you reporting for a while.
• Photos and videos are also checked automatically, on our own server. What the check thinks may show nudity is hidden until someone on our team looks at it; the check never removes anything on its own.
• Only people who called, WhatsApped or messaged the shop or provider through KhojKhobor can review it, and their reviews say so. Reviews must be honest and about your own experience.
• Don't post abusive, misleading or unlawful content, personal information, or advertising. We may remove content that breaks these rules.
• Photos, videos or sound made or changed with AI to look real must say so. Using them to deceive people, or to show someone nude or doing something they didn't do, is removed at once and may be reported to the police.
• By putting something up, you allow KhojKhobor to display it on the website to the people you chose.
• When you delete something, or our team removes it, it goes from the website straight away. As India's IT Rules 2021 and data protection rules require, a private copy is kept for one year, only to answer lawful requests, and then erased.

8. Sellers

Shops must be genuine businesses, list only products they are allowed to sell, describe them honestly, honour their stated prices, delivery and return policies, verify payments promptly, issue refunds when due, and comply with applicable laws, including tax and consumer protection laws. We may suspend shops that don't.

Food businesses must hold the FSSAI licence or registration the law requires them to have, and may add its number to their shop so buyers can see it. A shop that is registered for GST shows its GSTIN.

Every listing is for contact only: buyers call, WhatsApp or message the shop or provider, and any order or booking is made between them, not on KhojKhobor.KhojKhobor takes no orders, bookings or payments, and isn't a party to those deals.

9. What you must not do

• Use KhojKhobor for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful.
• Sell, offer or ask for anything on the banned items list, in a shop, a classified ad, a service or a post. We remove such listings and may close the account.
• Interfere with the website's security or operation, or scrape it in ways that overload it.
• Impersonate another person or business, or place orders you don't intend to accept.

If you break these terms, we can remove what you put up, and suspend or close your account. Breaking the law can also bring a penalty or punishment under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and other laws, and where the law requires it (for example, child sexual abuse material) we report it to the police or other authorities. We remind everyone of this at least every three months, as India's IT Rules 2021 require.

10. Our responsibility

We work to keep KhojKhobor accurate and available, but we can't guarantee that it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. As an intermediary, KhojKhobor is not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of products sold by shops, or for payments made between you and a shop. Where the law allows, our total liability to you in connection with the website is limited to the amount of any fee you paid to KhojKhobor itself. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal will have jurisdiction, subject to your rights as a consumer.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as KhojKhobor grows. We'll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know on the website.

14. Complaints and the Grievance Officer

As India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require, KhojKhobor has a Grievance Officer. Anyone may complain about content on KhojKhobor, a decision we made, or how we handle personal data, using the complaint form or by emailing the Grievance Officer, whose name and contact details are shown there.

• We acknowledge every complaint at once, by email, with a ticket number.
• A complaint that content shows you nude or in a sexual act, real or made up, or that someone is pretending to be you, is acted on within 2 hours. If it includes a link to the content here, the content is hidden at once while we look.
• An order from a court or a government agency is acted on within 3 hours. If it's emailed from an official gov.in or nic.in address that our mail server can confirm, what it links to here is hidden at once.
• A request to take down content that breaks these terms is resolved within 36 hours.
• Any other complaint is resolved within 7 days.
• If you're not satisfied with the Grievance Officer's decision, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Government of India within 30 days, at gac.gov.in.
