Child Safety Standards

KhojKhobor has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). These standards apply to everything on the KhojKhobor website and Android app, which are run by Bauddhik Innovations LLP: posts, comments, answers, messages, photos, videos, listings, groups, events and people's pages. They sit alongside our Terms of Use, and breaking them means losing your account.

1. Only for adults

KhojKhobor is for people aged 18 or older. Everyone confirms their age when they make an account, and we close any account we learn belongs to someone under 18.

2. Never allowed

A child here means anyone under 18. None of this is allowed anywhere on KhojKhobor, in public or in private messages:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any photo, video, drawing, text or computer-made image that shows a child in a sexual way, real or made up, and asking for it, sharing it or linking to it.
  • Grooming: contacting a child to win their trust for sexual purposes, such as asking them for photos, to meet, or to keep it secret.
  • Sextortion: threatening to share images of a child, or pressuring a child to send them.
  • Sexualising children in any way, including sexual comments about a child.
  • Trafficking or selling a child, arranging a child marriage, and offering or looking for work by children under 14, or for risky work by anyone under 18.
  • Encouraging or helping anyone to harm a child.

3. How we keep children safe

  • Only adults can make an account, signing in with their own Google or Facebook account.
  • Messages from someone who isn't your friend arrive as a request, which you can accept, ignore or report. You can choose to get messages only from friends, and you can block anyone, which stops them messaging you or seeing your page.
  • Photos and videos in posts and listings, and profile pictures, are checked automatically for nudity on our own server. What the check flags is hidden until our team has looked.
  • Anything can be reported in a couple of taps, and our team checks reports every day.

4. How to report a concern

  • In the app or on the site: tap Report on the post, comment, answer, message, listing, group, event, service or job, and choose Child abuse or a child at risk. Our team is alerted at once, and a post or comment reported this way by an established account is hidden straight away.
  • Without an account, or about a person's page: use our complaints form and choose A child being abused, exploited or put at risk, with the link. What it links to is hidden at once, and the complaint is resolved within 2 hours.
  • By email: write to [email protected] with “Child safety” in the subject.

Please don't download, screenshot or forward the material, not even to report it: in India, keeping or sharing it is a crime. Send us the link, or report the message where it is.

If a child is in danger right now, call the police on 112 or Childline on 1098. You can also report child sexual abuse material to the Government of India at cybercrime.gov.in.

5. What we do

  • Every child safety report alerts our team the moment it comes in, and we deal with it ahead of everything else.
  • We remove the material, close the account, and stop it being used to sign in again.
  • We report child sexual abuse material, and any child we believe is in danger, to the police or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, as India's Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and its Rules require, with the details they need to find who did it.
  • We keep what we removed sealed and private, with the record of who put it up and when, for at least a year and longer if the authorities ask, only to hand it to them. Nobody else sees it.
  • We answer lawful requests from the police and courts quickly.
  • We never tell anyone who reported them.

6. Contact

Our contact for child safety, including for the police and child protection organisations, is [email protected]. You can also reach our Grievance Officer through the complaints page.
