Finding things
How do I find a shop, a doctor or a bus time?
Type what you need in the search box at the top: a shop's name, a thing (“inverter battery”), a job (“blouse stitching”) or a place. It looks through shops, places and what people have asked before. You can type in Bengali too: “বিষ্ণু” finds “The Bishnu”.
Places lists hospitals, schools, banks, bus stands and more by kind and town, and a bus stand's page has its bus times.
What do “Still right” and “Wrong” mean?
After you call a number or go by a time on a place's page, tell the next person whether it was right. “Still right” keeps it trusted; “Wrong” lets you say what it is now. When more people say something is wrong than right, it's hidden until someone puts it right.
If you call a place or get directions to it, we may ask you the next day whether what it said was right.
A place is missing or something is wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes. Add a place in a minute, or open a place and add what you know: opening hours, a phone number, bus times and fares, or a photo. If what's there is wrong, tap “Wrong” and give what's right.
Numbers for hospitals and ambulances can be called from the site only after two people have confirmed them, so a wrong number doesn't cost anyone time in an emergency. In an emergency, call 112.
Asking Raiganj
How do I ask?
Go to Ask Raiganj and write what you need, like “Who repairs inverters?” or “Where can I get a blouse stitched by Friday?”. Shops that say they do it are told, and anyone can answer; you're told when someone does. As you type, you see whether someone asked the same before and what helped them.
An answer helped me. What do I do?
Tap “This helped me” under it. It thanks the person and counts towards the “Helped” number on their profile, and if they named a shop, people who need the same are shown that shop next time.
Can I answer?
Please do. Name the shop or place you'd go to, so the person can call it or find it on the map. A shop owner can answer “We do this” for their own shop.
Posts and alerts
What can I post?
Use “Post for Raiganj” on the home page for:
- an alert: no power, a road blocked, no water
- something lost or found
- a call for help: blood, an ambulance, anything urgent
- a shop or person you'd recommend
An alert stays up for 6 hours, and longer while people tap “Same here” (up to 3 days). A call for help stays up for 3 days, and the rest for a month. Say when it's sorted, so nobody keeps calling.
Why can't I put my phone number in a post?
Numbers in public posts get copied by scammers. Tick “Let people call me” instead: people who are logged in can tap to see the number in your profile, and nobody else.
How do I choose what I'm told about?
On Today or in Notification Preferences, pick: alerts and lost and found in your area, calls for help, calls for blood your group can give, rooms to rent, and a short “Today in Raiganj” each morning. You're told about 10 things a day at most.
Shops
How do I buy from a shop?
Call or WhatsApp the shop from its page, and agree the price, delivery and payment with them. KhojKhobor isn't part of the sale and never handles the money. If you pay by UPI, check that your UPI app shows the shop's name, and never tell anyone your UPI PIN or an OTP.
Can I review a shop?
Yes, after you call or WhatsApp it from its page on KhojKhobor while logged in. You have 90 days, and your review is marked “Contacted the shop”, because we can't tell whether you bought.
What does the Verified badge mean?
It marks shops we have checked ourselves and that consistently treat Raiganj's customers well.
A shop's number is wrong, or it has closed.
If it's a place in Places, tap “Wrong” next to what's wrong, or say it's not there any more. For a listed shop, tell us on the complaint form and we'll check with the shop.
Selling your own things
What can I list?
Things you own and want to sell or give away, things you grew or made, and rooms to rent: up to 10 at a time. A listing shows for 30 days; renew it if it's still there. You can't list cooked or packaged food, medicines, pesticides, tobacco, fireworks or pets for money, or anything on the Banned Items list. If you sell a lot, list as a shop instead.
How do I get in touch with a seller?
Message them from the listing, or WhatsApp them if they chose to show their number. Meet somewhere public, see the thing before you pay, and never pay in advance to someone you haven't met.
Your account
How do I sign up?
Continue with Google, with the Google account on your phone (the one you use for the Play Store or Gmail). The first time, say you're 18 or older and agree to the terms, and your account is made. You can look around without an account; you need one to post, ask, answer or review.
Is there a password?
No. You sign in with Google, so there's nothing to remember or forget here. We keep only your name and email from Google. To keep your account safe, keep your Google account safe: turn on 2-Step Verification there.
The Google button doesn't work inside Facebook or Instagram.
Google doesn't allow signing in inside those apps' own browsers. Open the page in Chrome (or Safari on an iPhone): the login page shows how.
Can I use the site in Bengali?
Yes. Tap “বাংলা” at the top of any page, and “English” to switch back.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Delete Account in your account. It can't be undone. See the Privacy Policy for what we keep and why.
Listing your shop
How do I list my shop?
Go to List your shop. It's free, with no commission. Say what you sell or do in your own words; we call to check, usually within a day, and then people find you and call or WhatsApp you. If your shop is already in Places, open it there and tap “Is this your shop?”, so it isn't in twice.
I don't have a shop. Can I list what I do?
Yes. Electricians, tutors, tailors and people who make things can list themselves. Only your area is shown, not your address.
Complaints
How do I make a complaint?
- For a problem with a shop, talk to the shop first: most things are sorted fastest that way.
- If it isn't, or it's about something on KhojKhobor, use the complaint form. It goes to our Grievance Officer, and you get a ticket number at once.
- A nude or sexual image of you, or someone pretending to be you, is dealt with within 2 hours (include the link and it's hidden at once while we look); a request to take something down within 36 hours; anything else within 7 days.
Can KhojKhobor get my money back?
No. We never hold your money, so a refund has to come from whoever you paid. Tell us if a shop won't sort it out: we follow it up, and we can take a shop off the site.
